QSC Audio Products has an extremely efficient custom order manufacturing to delivery assembly line.  It has to, considering it ships an average of 500 studio (theater) quality amplifiers per day!  Previously, they used databased text to present configurations to the workstations.  They decided to add graphics for faster recognition of custom configuration settings to switches mounted on various printed circuit boards.  When an employee asked me to do the graphics for them, I suggested they use ActiveX controls, bind them to the configuration database, and make them look as close to the real thing as possible.  Then, placing these controls on top of views of PCBs, the user immediately recognizes the custom settings of the switches. Below is a test form for showing the controls I designed and built to do just that.
